Thelma and Sue On the Border

Three members of Congress are on the U.S. - Mexico border tonight, getting a first-hand look (night goggles and all) at the problem of illegal immigration. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported today that the three Republicans include Rep. Sue Kelly of New York's 19th District along with Thelma Drake of Virginia and Todd Akin of Missouri. The paper reports the three will spend a few hours of their two-day "fact-finding" trip in Mexico, talking with border officials there about the illegal immigration problem.

HILLARY IN FRISCO (Yes I know they hate it when you call it Frisco)

Sen. Hillary Clinton is on the road again also. According to the blog SFGate, Clinton is scheduled to be in San Francisco at a fund-raising breakfast Friday for Democrat Phil Angelides, who is challenging Republican Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger for his job this fall.

CLINTON QUESTIONS FDA OUTSOURCING OF 'PLAN B' DATA GATHERING

Clinton and her Democratic cohort Sen. Patty Murray of Washington today questioned the appointment by the FDA of an outside firm to collect public comment on the 'Plan B' emergency contraceptive. The senators, in a letter to the Comptroller General David Walker, are asking the Government Accountability Office to investigate the "unusual step" of outsourcing the job to a private contractor.
