Tasini Web Site Ad Shows Horrors Of War
Jonathan Tasini, who's anti-war campaign for Hillary Clinton's senate seat has never seemed to have gotten off the ground, is nonetheless making a point. In an extremely graphic ad on his campaign Web site, Tasini is running a very disturbing montage showing his view on the fruits of war. Again, we warn this ad is very graphic and difficult to watch. But you can click here to see it if you wish.

Just as disturbing as those pictures are regarding the reality of the war that is on-going, they are equally disturbing for the fact that they are, for the most part, unseen.
That none of the images in this ad have been seen by the general public -- these pictures are not in our newspapers, on our TV screens, in our news magazines or even on new web sites -- shows that media is not doing its job of reporting this war to the public.
It also shows that the government learned a lesson from Vietnam: Keep the grisly images away from sight, either by outright prohibition (Bush's insistence that photos of US soldiers' coffins not be shown) or by leaning on the media (if media companies want those mergers to go through and those FCC regulations eased, they won't give the government a hard time).
A country where the public is uninformed and keep in the dark leads to a combination of blindly obedient citizens and an ignorant population.
