Kelly Says No Connection To Foley Fiasco

Republican Rep. Sue Kelly, a former member of the Congressional Page Board, had no knowledge of any untoward advances by ex-congressman Mark Foley toward teenage pages until the story broke late last week.

That's the word from the Kelly campaign as reported by the Times Herald-Record. The paper quotes Kelly spokesman Kevin Callahan as saying any attempt to connect Kelly to the Foley affair is a witch hunt. "I don't see what you're trying to do other than connect her to a sick man," Callahan told the paper. "All I can tell you is that no incidents came to her attention while she was chair."

Kelly's opponent John Hall raised questions about what, if any, prior knowledge Kelly might have had about Foley's escapades, given her position of Page Board head in 1999 and 2000.
